BMW E36 S50/S52/M50/M52 Valve Spring Compressor Tool

$55.00 $60.00

We were rebuilding our S52 cylinder head and couldn't find a good valve spring compressor tool that we knew would fit this engine, so we designed our own. This valves spring compressor tool built specifically for S50/S52/M50/M52 engines will allow you to compress your valve springs in order to disassemble the valvetrain.

Our tool compresses two valve springs at a time for a more efficient workflow than a single valve spring compressor. Our tool also allows for more generous access to the valve stem keepers compared to every valve spring compressor that we have seen. In addition, once our tool is tightened down, both of your hands are free to do the delicate work of removing or installing the valve stem keepers.

See our full article on how to use this tool: How to remove valve springs.

This tool is machined from billet aluminum and has a raw aluminum finish. It is designed and manufactured in Austin, Texas.

GREAT TOOL!

I was successfully able to change all 24 of my valve stem seals without taking off the head on my s52 because of this awesome tool! Great customer service as well I asked to quick ship it to have it in time to finish my E36 for Monterey car week and it came with a hand written thank you note and instructions on how to use the tool. The only flaw I would say with the tool is that when your turn the bolt it digs into the aluminum that holds the valve spring retainer and it has a little bit of metal shavings so just make sure to clean it and lube it for every valve you use it on and do a oil flush. But either then that everything is great.

Works well.

Nice tool... easy to use. Just wish the bolt and nuts were steel instead of aluminum.

Daniel, thanks for the feedback! We are always looking for ways to improve our products. Part of the rationale behind using aluminium is that if a valve is stuck and the forces get high, it is preferable for the tool to break before the head breaks. Nonetheless, we may be able to update this product to provide both steel threads and a load limiting feature.

Worked perfectly

Had to change two leaking valve stem seals on my S52. Without this I would’ve had to remove the head. Great tool, great results

Aluminum threads are a weak point

The aluminum threads stripped. Still can use it if I put a steel nut under the aluminum arm, but might be a good idea to use a steel bar I steam in the future.

Thanks for the feedback. It helps us to improve our products. Per our email conversation, we are happy to ship you a replacement.
