D35 Optima Battery Vent Kit

We love Optima Batteries, but had to add a vent tube kit to make it work for our 1992-1999 BMW 3-series. Under normal operation, the battery is sealed and nothing comes out of the battery. In rare instances when the battery is overcharged, damaged or overheated, the battery will vent flammable and toxic gases. This could result in our trunk filling up with these gases instead of them being vented to the atmosphere.

Our kit consists of two machined ABS caps that go over each of the vent ports using 3M VHB (Very High Bond) mounting tape. The caps collect the gases and route them out the included tubing to your desired outlet.
